Franc Polman and Riko Fukuda

Riko Fukuda and Franc Polman are specialized in the music for violin and piano, from the Viennese classical period to the romantic repertoire. They play the music on authentic instruments. The violin is strung by gut strings instead of steel. The bow is light, which makes it possible to play 'rhetorically' and to almost automatically find a balance with the fortepiano. It is an exciting experience to play Beethoven's violin sonatas on a Rosenberger fortepiano from 1802, to be able to follow all the composer's directions without comprimising the clarity of the different voices. Or to play a sonata by Mendelssohn on a Graf fortepiano, or Schumann's music on a Streicher. The unique sounds of these various instruments suits the music perfectly and sheds a new and inspiring light on the old and well-known works.
